SINCE 2022, CONNECTING STATE SCHOOLERS, IRL.

The Social Mobility Factory is the flagship event of The 93% Club, the UK’s first and only nationwide network of state school alumni.

Inspired by the design principles of private school alumni networks, the Club is building the UK’s largest network of state schoolers, founded on the belief that community is key to helping state schoolers both get in to their dream roles and get on once they arrive.

From the classroom to the boardroom, the Club connects state schoolers with people who get it: peers who keep them motivated, professionals who’ve been in their shoes, and mentors who can offer insight, encouragement, and a genuine leg up into the careers they aspire to have.

Since 2022, the Social Mobility Factory has been at the heart of bringing this community together in real life. In a single day, we unite our nationwide network - giving student members the knowledge, tools, and connections to secure their dream roles, while providing professional members the opportunity to connect with peers and support the next generation.

THE FIRST FACTORY - CANARY WHARF, 2022

Why the Factory matters.

92% of people don’t have a network to lean on. Yet almost half say being well connected is the route into their dream job. Add to that the 88% who’ve seen nepotism drive hiring decisions, and the reality is clear: talent alone isn’t enough, connections matter.

For many state schoolers, the barriers show up early. 40% of students are told their ambitions are too high. At employer events, 82% from working-class backgrounds feel out of place, with formality and attitudes from company reps making things worse. The result? 56% leave events early, and half rule out certain employers entirely after a negative interaction.

That’s why the Factory exists. We’ve redesigned the format: no awkward silences, no closed doors, no ‘you don’t belong here’ energy. Just access to knowledge, tools, and people who get it. A day built for state schoolers to learn, connect, and walk away ready to take their next step with confidence.
